Dates & Wind Window

This is one of the trickiest parts of this whole event – the wind being the only thing we cannot manage or plan for! So, as soon as September arrives we will be looking at the wind on a regular basis and trying to work out which weekend looks the most likely to enable us to run the event. Based on the tides we have 3 weekends in mind: 13th/14th, 27th/28th September, 11th, 12th October – so the event needs to happen on one of these weekends on either Saturday or Sunday. If there is not enough wind on any of these weekends the festival will take place on the weekend of the 11th/12th October.

Using all the usual forecasts that kiters use, we will give an amber warning on Thursday that it looks good for the coming weekend, and then the final green light decision will be taken on Friday at 8am for the following Saturday or Sunday.

Facebook, email, twitter and texts will all be used to get the message out there. September/October is usually pretty reliable, the water is still warm and we are hoping the wind Gods are with us and give us a full day of constant SW wind!
